While wlroots certainly reduces the effort to write a Wayland compositor, I also encountered the issue that it introduces new wlroots-specific subprotocols, which themselves need to be implemented. For example, no existing screenlocker worked, so I needed to hack something together in the lua-config.

I guess that's a niche example and touches a language feature rather than the standard library, but I get where you come from.
